With more and more brands offering student discounts across the UK, we decided to compile a mega student discount list, the ultimate guide some might say, so you’ve got a quick reference guide to what’s available.

Most stores (both online and offline) require you to prove you’re a student studying in the UK, be it at university or college. This means you’ll need to keep you valid student card with you at all times when you’re out in town, but online it’s always been slightly harder. For this reason, many retailers will now only access a valid NUS Extra Card (which costs £12) number as proof you’re a UK student, with lots now having a tie up with UNiDAYS. This is a new initiative will enables you to sign up directly on the UNiDAYS site and then instantly access student discounts online, without the need to prove each time that you’re eligible.

Although most discounts are only provided with a UNiDAYS account online, on the high street, lots of stores will accept a valid student card as proof. Just make sure it hasn’t expired and has a current photo so the staff behind the till know it’s you and not a fake. It’s also worth considering that when you’re shopping online, some stores may not let you claim any other offer in conjunction with the student discount. If there’s a voucher code for a greater percentage off, it may be worth forgoing the standard saving and opting for the short term promotional discount.
