Back to Uni Offers for 2014

Back to Uni Offers for 2014
September 17, 2014

The Autumn university term is here and whether you’re heading into your first year or are a returning student, there’s some great deals to be had.

All of the major retailers know that throughout September students are busy getting everything ready for the new university year, resulting in them offering great discounts on everything from broadband to stationery.

We’ve cherry picked some of the best Back 2 Uni promos out there so you can kit yourself out with everything you need and still have some spare change for the Student Union bar. Enjoy!

9 month broadband deal from Virgin Media
Virgin Media Student Broadband DealThe first thing you’ll need to sort out if you’re not going into halls of residence is broadband. Most providers make you sign up to 12 or 18-month contracts – not helpful considering you’re only at uni for around 9 months of the year.

Step forward Virgin Media, who are offering Superfast broadband from just £26.50p/m on a dedicated 9-month contract. The Virgin Media Student Broadband Deal is only available to university students (lucky you) and is great for shared houses, as it offers download speeds of up to 50Mb – perfect if you love streaming music and films.

Macbook Air for just £749
Macbook student dealUnless mum and dad come to the rescue to top up the funds, Macbooks are usually out of the question for most students. Although not strictly a student deal, this offer from Currys is too good to miss.

They currently have a sparkling new Macbook Air (13.3” model) for £849, which you can then claim an extra £100 cashback on. If you were ever planning on getting a Macbook, now’s the time to do it.

Surface Pro 2 - £128 off for students
Surface Pro Student DealIf you’re a Windows fan through and through and don’t fancy getting a Mac, checkout the online student deals at the Microsoft Store. With the release of the Surface Pro 3, prices on the Pro 2 have been slashed to get rid of old stock.

This means you can now bag yourself a student discount of £128 on the mega 512GB version – more memory than even you could use up with all of the film downloads! If that’s a little too much power to handle, check out the £100 off promotion on the standard Surface 2 (the difference is in the ‘Pro’), which comes in at a very reasonable £259.

You’ll also find special student pricing across the Microsoft accessories, as well as on software like Office University Edition. Bargains bargains bargains!

50% off textbooks at Blackwell Books
Blackwell Books student dealAh something that no student can go without – the dreaded textbooks. They often eat into a large chunk of your first term budget and unless you’ve managed to find some second hand bargains, expect to pay around £40 a book.

Luckily Blackwell Books have decided to help this year by offering discounts of up to 50% on a huge range of what they classify as ‘key textbooks’. Last time we checked there were over 600 textbooks in the promotion so there should be something for every course – whether you’re doing business studies or medicine.

Student essentials at Argos – 3 for 2
Argos Student DealsFinally you’ll need to get yourself those everyday essentials – stationery, bags, note pads, the list goes on.

Argos are currently running a promotion online offering 3 for 2 on selected student essentials – this includes everything from kettles to washing baskets, but get in quick as it ends at the start of October.
