Top 3 Voucher Apps

Top 3 Voucher Apps
August 09, 2013
Every year millions of us try to cut the cost of everyday essentials, as well as expensive purchases like holidays by using voucher codes online. This phenomenon has grown exponentially and helps people to save hundreds of pounds. With the majority of mobile phone users in the UK now having smartphones, it’s never been easier to shop online via a mobile. With this has led to the growth of money-saving apps, which offer discounts at online stores, as well as on the high street. iLikeOffers.co.uk doesn’t currently have an app so we’ve picked our top voucher apps to help cut the cost in your local town or city. All are free to download and are compatible on multiple operating systems including Android and iOS.

O2 Priority Moments App

We should start off by saying you need to be an O2 customer in order to get the app – part of the reason for the app itself is as a way for O2 to reward existing customers, as well as hoping to get more customers by people wanting access to the app. If you are a customer, the app can be downloaded in a matter of seconds and you’ll then have access for the duration of your time with O2.

What to expect:
When you first open it you’ll instantly be met with the top offers for the day, which often include some freebies such as a coffee or ice cream. This makes it easy to see instantly where you’re likely to save the most and these are usually a mixture of online and offline offers (local to your current location). You can then use the top navigation to filter all offers by category, such as Travel or Health & Beauty, which is great if you’re looking to save on something specific. At the bottom of the O2 Priority Moments app you’ll notice another menu/filter – this is used for selecting the type of offer such as nearby (local) deals, online only or to search across all discounts on offer. It’s incredibly simple to use and every offer listed contains information on any associated terms and conditions, together with how long you’ve got left before it expires.

When you find an offer you like, just click on the ‘See More’ link which will take you to the full page about it. You can then selected to use the offer at the time or to save it for later, essentially allowing you to collect a wallet of offers to claim. You’ll receive a personalised voucher code usually which can then be shown in store or entered at the checkout online (in the same way as claiming a standard discount code). Just make sure if you select to ‘Use it Now’ that you make it in time to the restaurant or store, as many expire within 2 hours of you clicking the button. Only 1 can be redeemed per customer so when it’s gone, you can’t go back within the app to try and get another code.

Overall a great thumbs up for the O2 Priority Moments app, taking top spot due to it’s breadth of discounts, ease of use and exclusives available.

Vouchercloud App

The Vouchercloud app was one of the first of it’s kind in the UK, taking the nation by storm and running up millions of downloads within the first couple of years of launch. The success has led to Vodafone taking a stake in the country, which shows further support for how great the app is as well as providing financial support. This means that moving forward, it should get even bigger and better, helping us all to save more on the high street.

What to expect:
First off you need to register with an email address and password after downloading the app or login with your existing details if you have an account at the VoucherCloud.com website. Like to O2 Priority Moments App, you’ll first be met with full screen images of the featured offers each day. Again, a fantastically easy way to see the biggest discounts on everything from restaurant meals to gym memberships. You can then use the top menu to select all deals near your current location or to filter by type, such as Casual Dining or Travel. Online Shopping is one of the options, which means that unlike the O2 app you can’t then filter online discounts further down by category. A slight drawback but the Vouchercloud App really focuses on offline offers and it has a mobile-optimised website which takes care of online voucher codes.

Once you’ve found a promotion or discount you can then either claim it at the time or save it to use at a later date. Like O2, Vouchercloud provide all of the info you need, together with any telephone numbers in case you want to call up and book a table for example. Nice and simple to use and we also love some other features like the option to create your own list of Favourites, which helps to save time by instantly seeing any available offers at your favourite restaurants in any town you’re currently in.

VoucherCodes.co.uk App

The VoucherCodes.co.uk App has been created by the leading voucher code website in the UK, which now has over 7 million members. Due to it’s size it’s able to secure fantastic exclusives with leading retailers and restaurants. It’s always been a favourite of ours online due to the simplicity of the website and discounts offered, the app follows similar branding and is a great extension of the VoucherCodes.co.uk online website.

What to expect:
Like with the VoucherCloud App you need to sign in to be able to get access to see discounts within the VoucherCodes.co.uk App. If you haven’t already registered directly at the main site it’s very quick to do so directly on the app and only takes seconds. Once in you’re met with full-screen images of the hottest offers each day, which is a common theme across all of our top 3 voucher apps. Unlike the other two apps reviewed, there’s no top menu and instead it’s all done along the bottom of the screen. No online voucher codes are listed as the VoucherCodes.co.uk mobile site lists all of these in a stunningly simple way, so only expect to see offline promotions. You can filter by category which makes it easier to find specific discounts based on what you’re looking to save on, but no search facility unfortunately. This is a slight frustration as it results in you having to scroll through to find any deals for a specific retailer and it is a useful feature on both the VoucherCloud and O2 Moments apps. Overall the interface is beautifully designed but you will notice far less offers compared to the others which is why it slots into third place.
