What can we expect at LFW 2013?
Excitement is building as London prepares to welcome back a world of top class designers to Somerset House on the Strand for London Fashion Week 2013. Showcasing collections for Autumn/Winter it couldn’t come at a better time with our recent cold snap, giving us a peek of what’s in store for the next major temperature drop at the end of the year.
This year we’ll see over 120 ready-to-wear designers showcased in total -the very best of both established brands as well as new designers starting to make a name for themselves. With 60 official catwalk shows, it’s one of the top events in the fashion calendar and gives us great insight into future trends.
A few new areas have been created for the show this February, including the ‘NEWGEN’ area sponsored by Topshop which will house some of the Capital’s most innovative designers, perfect if you love to stay British. With NEWGEN alumni including the likes of Alexander McQueen and Matthew Williamson since it was launched back in 1993, it’s a must-see collection, which we’re hoping will produce a couple more iconic names this year.
In addition we’ll see a platform for environmentally-sustainable design provided by Estethica, set up by the BFC just over 6 years ago. To be included in the collection all designers must focus on ethical, fair trade practices, so if you truly care about where your clothing has come from make sure you check it out.
New exhibitors for the show include Marrten Van Der Horst, Moody and Farrel, Zoe Jordan and Dr Martens – ensuring there’s a diverse match to cater for all fashion tastes.
