Our Favourite Christmas Apps
November 26, 2013
Whether you’re an avid fan of apps or have just got a sparkling new iPhone and want to test it out, these festive apps will get you and your family in the holiday spirit without costing a penny. There’s a great mix of traditional activities incorporated into technology so you can relive those childhood memories.

Christmas Booth: Festive Photo Fun App

There are lots of photo book type apps available but one of the best is the Christmas Booth Festive Photo Fun app due to it’s simplicity. It’s completely free to download for iPhone users and allows you to use an existing or new photo which can then be superimposed with some Christmas images.

You or the kids can have hours of fun testing out the Santa suit or even putting some reindeer antlers on to a photo of your pet. When you’re happy with the image, why not get it printed and use it for your Christmas cards or send to a friend to give them a good smile.  If you’re a Facebook or Twitter addict, you’ll be pleased to hear that you can share the image in just a click after saving it within the Christmas Booth Festive Photo Fun app.

A Letter To Santa App

Perfect for small kids, one of the top tasks for Christmas can now be done with A Letter To Santa app. This free app will let your kids create their very own wish list, which can then be shared with relatives and friends. It’s easy to use and should help to ensure your kids don’t get two of everything on Christmas day or toys that aren’t at the top of the legendary most wanted list.

Where is Santa – Santa Tracker App

The Santa Tracker App is great for both children and big kids alike, giving a visual representation of where Santa is at any point in time. A nice bit of fun for Christmas Eve, as well as in the run-up to Christmas as it works all year round. The Where is Santa – Santa Tracker app is completely free to download and is one of the most sophisticated out there, with heaps of additional info compared to some of the other tracker apps. You can also see a countdown timer of when Santa should arrive at your home – just make sure the kids are in bed and a couple of mince pies have been left out!

Christmas Advent Calendar App

Taking the traditional Advent calendar into the 21st Century, the Christmas Advent Calendar app gives you a gift of a new free app every day throughout December. Each app is carefully selected so it’s a great app to keep you updated on what’s hot in the app world over the festive season. There’s also a bundle of Christmas melodies to get you in the spirit as you decorate your home – certainly one of the apps aimed more towards adults as well as children.

Christmas Countdown Recipes App

Brilliant for any budding chefs, the Christmas Countdown Recipes app puts a twist on the standard countdown timer apps you can get. You’ll find over 200 different festive recipes in the run up to Christmas, with nutritional info displayed for each one in case you’re watching the pounds.  There’s everything from gingerbread men to cheese fondue listed so you can step away from the norm and test out your cooking skills. Like all of the other apps listed, the Christmas Countdown Recipes App is free to download and use.

Christmas Radio App

If you’re not a fan of Christmas music then this is definitely not the app for you. If, on the other hand, you can’t get enough of it, the Christmas Radio app is a must. It connects you to over 50 dedicated radio stations across the world set up for Christmas, blaring out festive music like there’s no tomorrow. It’s a great companion app to make sure you can always find a radio station playing your favourite Christmas tunes, whether it’s with family across the Christmas tree or during your daily commute to work. Simple, yet beautifully effective and you will either love it or hate it.
