Most are run as a charity and automatically add a charity donation to the ticket prices, as they receive gift aid from the government if you’re a UK registered taxpayer. This can be removed which would decrease the prices further (all of the prices listed here include it), but the benefit to the zoo from the gift aid is far greater than the saving you receive from removing this donation.

Other ways to get a cheap zoo ticket:
Many zoos work together or are part of the same conservation group. This means if you have an annual zoo membership for one, you are often entitled one free visit each year to a sister zoo.
